Zoo Entertainment Launches IndiePub Games
Digital Strategy Connects Zoo with Aspiring Designers and Gamers, Worldwide
Zoo Entertainment, Inc. (ZOOED), a leading developer and marketer of interactive entertainment software, today announced the launch of its innovative content creation site, indiePub Games (www.indiepubgames.com), an online community for independent game developers, casual gamers and video game enthusiasts.
indiePub Games attracts developers from all over the world and provides them a mechanism for bringing their games to market through Zoo’s powerful distribution channels. Moreover, Zoo supports the developer by providing capital and resources to convert their games to operate on multiple platforms such as Nintendo DS™, Playstation®Network, iPhone® and others. indiePub Games also provides gamers a robust global community where they can play the latest in innovative independent games and become part of the development process.
At indiePub Games, gamers help co-develop new games by providing creative input, rating games, and participating in development discussions. The community gives everyday consumers the opportunity to participate in a unique “crowd sourcing” model for developing and refining games and game ideas that establishes relevance and marketability of new intellectual property. Through their participation, gamers can earn points, and in turn, be entered into promotions and sweepstakes with prizes ranging from console games and peripherals to an Apple iPad™ to a flat panel 3D television. indiePub also holds contests where developers can win significant cash prizes, publishing deals and community recognition.
“While other companies talk about supporting the indie community, Zoo is getting the job done,” said Mark Seremet, CEO of Zoo Entertainment. “We are currently running our third contest for developers – this time with a grand cash prize of $100,000. Additionally, two of our prior winners – Storm and Auditorium – will make their way to a multiplatform release later this year.
“As a former developer myself, I wanted to create a platform that would be a win for both developers and Zoo alike,” added Seremet. “Developers get marketing and financial support and Zoo gets access to truly innovative games, which increase the overall value we bring to our consumers. And because these games are generally not enormous files, we can distribute them digitally enabling us to generate higher margins and profits for our shareholders. Most importantly, we do all of this in a transparent, fair way so that the equation works for developers, gamers and Zoo.”
As part of its official launch, indiePub Games kicked off its third Independent Game Developer Competition this month, which asks independent developers to submit their new and unique games for the chance to win the grand prize of $100,000 and a worldwide, multi-platform publishing contract. Other cash prizes will be awarded to the developers whose games are recognized by the indiePub community.
